Wow! Thanks for sharing this. I'm sure others wouild like to know about that, too. I'll keep this number two. i only belong to here and My Telespace for now. But, it never hurts to have multiple outlets for meeting more blind people. Conventions and NFB gatherings are also great for this.
Do you know where the number is based out of?
Do you know who runs the system? Is it someone trustworthy? And how does their Caller ID blocking system work?

Well, people want to know. I know that if I didn't recognize a particular area code, I would certainly want to know where it's based out of to avoid unnecessary long distance charges. These are all very good questions.

Yes that's right. I've been on the line, and the people there are really nice and helpful if you just wanna talk about certain issues like losing vision or whatever it is. But people like to joke around and have a good time and get to know each other. There's people of all ages on there. Lots more of people from 18 to 40 are joining, and we decided to make one of the rooms for the younger folks, but anyone can go anywhere on the system. So if you're not interested in what the younger guys are talking about, you can go to another room and see what the older people are talking about. There's a contest going on right now that if you call on the hours of noon, 6, and ten eastern and stay for an hour and talk, you'll be entered into a drawing to win 25 bucks at the end of the month. So lots of people are joinigng and making new friends and hopefully wanting to get money to. But the more people they get on there, the more money they'll make, and the more prizes they can give to I guess. That's what they said at least. I have helped some people get on there in the last few days. I've only been a member for 4 days now, and it's just adicting. But it's nice to find a community with nice people and if people don't get along, they leave and go somewhere else. There's plenty of rooms, 20 live rooms, and 20 unsensored ones, And private ones to. So hopefully we'll see you on there. Let me know if you want to join and I can help you to.
Oh and I forgot to say this earlier, but the owners don't have web controls right now, so no one will see your phone numbers. And even if they did, I don't think you want an older woman calling you anyway, and they've got better things to do that to call people. So I don't know when they're going to get their web controls, but everyone is safe on there. If you call and want to ask them questions, they would be more than happy to answer the questions you have. That's what they're there for, besides talking and having fun to.
I think that other teens would want to talk not just using skype but using the phone. i know I would.
I can understand why people might have to be 18 but is there a place for the other generation as well? Not on that same line but some where Else?

now days chatlines do not stand out. god I remember when evoyce, to be sure, e touch, pipeline which is still around but not letting anyone on, and more were just coming out.
E Touch? I don't remember that one!
So how do you get to the various rooms? Hitting 1 will land you in the main room, but there are no specific instructions on how to get to the others.
One of the founders has an account on here, but doesn't use it as far as I know. If you don't want your number showing, just use Skype out if you have that. it will show up as unknown. Or, try dialing * 67 to block your number before calling and see what happens.
Ok, to get to the other rooms, you push 1 to get to the main menu, then 2 and it'll say private rooms. The room that I go into is the one where it's for younger people in their 20's and 30's. That is room 3. So you hit, 1 for main menu, 2, 3, and then pound and you'll be in there. But there's tons of rooms, dunno if people will be in all of them though. Room 19 is an audio room where you can play music or a dvs movie to people and all that. If you use skype, some people are having problems getting on with skype. I had a friend try it last night. If it doesn't recognize your tones when you hit a number, so it'll put you in room 21, which is an unsensored room. So some people are just going to be stuck in there for now lol. But anyway, I've become adicted to this place since there's been lots of new people joining. I'm going to go on there now and see who all is on. They said it's not as busy during the weekend as it is during the week. The contest still goes on during the weekend though. But you have to stay on for an hour anywhere on the system and come back into room one, so Peggy can see who all made it then you can do whatever you want. But you have to be in room 1 at the beginning and at the end of the hour so she can write down the names of everyone who stayed. Then someone will get the money at the end of the month. So if anyone has any more questions, feel free to ask. I'm not an administrator, I just listen to what they say and pass the word along to other people. lol. So I hope to see who all is interested there. Of course, if you're not interested and just wanna use zbp, you can do that to. But this line has only been up a month or so, so it's still new and people are telling people at meetings that they go to and all over the place. It's been passed around on e-mail lists and stuff, so I'm sure we'll get more people joining. So hope to see people there. Take care.
man I remember ETouch and eVoice and telesurf and graffiti and all the other old chat lines, they're all kinda bla now, Lol.
Sounds like maybe these guys need a little bit more instructions for users at the beginning, so they know how to access other rooms on their own, and know what their choices for rooms are. And I definitely remember E-voice. I loved that service! Never was on Grafiti much, though.

I wanted to update everyone on what's happening on the line. We just opened up a singles room last night and there's going to be a meeting every night at 9 o'clock eastern time and anyone 18 or over is welcome. It doesn't matter weather your gay, or lesbian or streight. We're all in the same boat if we're single. It's room 15. The room that I moderate is room 3, and it's a room for people from 18 to 40 but anyone can come in if they're older than that just to hang out. We had people in there til 6 or 7 in the morning last night so it's really hopping at night most of the time for some reason, but that's ok. I'm a night owl myself. But I just wanted to let everyone know about the singles room if anyone is interested. If you want more info, just drop me a message and I'll let you know more about it.
Ok, here's more news about the line. There's more groups being started up here and I just wanted to let anyone know who might be interested in joining any of them. There's a singles meeting tonight at 9 eastern, there's a bible study but I can't remember what time it's at, a cooking club group tomorrow afternoon, a sports group meeting tomorrow night, guide dog meeting on wednesday night and sunday afternoon, a computer group on saturday afternoon, and more I think. So if anyone's interested you call the number and hit 1 to get to the main menu, then 5 to hear the announcement board and it'll all be there. So if you wanna just chat just for the groups that's ok. No one is saying you must be there all the time, but I just wanted to update again if anyone's interested.
This sounds so incredibly cool! I've gotta try it. I remember Graffiti and used E Touch briefly but the latter never really seemed to work. It seems, judging by how you guys are writing, that some of the old lines are still around. If so, which ones? Anyway, will definitely go on this one. Thanks so much for the posts.
The difference between this and a line like grifeedi is that people can step all over one another and make it imposible to hear anyone. Sounds like a bunch of new groups starting up, I'll have to give it another try some night. Thanks for keeping us updated!
Oh yeah no problem. The thing is, if too many people are talking at once, whoever is in charge at the time shushes people and tells to please talk one at a time, or you go to another room and tell people you're going to room 4 for example and if anyone wants to follow, then come along. And then you can break up people. I mean with all the rooms and space and groups, it's all cool. But there's a new number for it now. The old number got changed, because this new server that the new number is on can support more or something. So anyway, the new number is 724-444-3592.
724... that's out of Pennsylvania somewhere guys.
They changed the number and you have to be 18 to use it.
